I did find this chart at, which is as close as I've come to seeing an accurate (although slightly outdated) feature matrix: īasically I've already told you the difference, reread the first paragraph of my first reply in this thread. That's it! None of the other features that VMware Workstation offers! Why is a comparison matrix needed!? Since VMware Player is bare bones in that it can only create and run Virtual Machines and that's about it IMO no comparison matrix is needed especially since in the VMware Player FAQ it plainly and simply states under "What can I do with VMware Player?", "Use VMware Player to create, run, evaluate, and share software running in virtual machines:" It seems like so many people have had the same question for years, and Vmware obviously could care less. So where is the incentive to buy VMware Workstation past the free 30 day trial serial number if you can continue to use it features with VMware Player afterwards? all of which you cannot do with VMware Player. You can however take advantage of GUI base customized networks, snapshots, clones, etc. That said if you install VMware Workstation with a free 30 day trail serial number then after the 30 days you can use the VMware Player and all of features of VMware Workstation however you just cannot run your Virtual machines via VMware Workstation. vmx configuration file to take advantage of custom network configurations. ![]() It doesn't even install the Virtual Network Editor and even if installed manually one still has to manually edit the.
